About 15 million years ago, an Asteroid is thought to have formed a splatter of hot glass over a strewn field in Europe formed by the impact of an Asteroid.

The stone is usually yellowish-green, green, or greenish-brown in color.

Moldavite has been used in jewelry cut into faceted and cabochon gemstones since the mid-1800's.
